RELATIONSHIPS ON CAMPUS
Susan has built extensive relationships with college admissions counselors having hosted several hundred representatives each fall as they met with prospective students. She has been invited on dozens of college tours where in depth visits include student and faculty panels, discussions and presentations by directors
of admission, financial aid, athletics, special education services and college and university presidents. This
comprehensive familiarity with college campuses and personnel has informed and guided the nearly 1000
students Susan has sent off to college.
PERSONALIZED GUIDANCE
Susan’s work is completely individualized, taking into consideration a variety of factors unique to each student. Her goal is to get to know them, their particular interests, passions and ideas. Her program includes recommending and evaluating college tests, interest inventories, high school curriculum and outside activities as necessary. By working collaboratively, Susan teaches her students how to do the research and evaluation involved for each college on their individualized list, assigning tasks between appointments. Meetings include teaching and preparing students to make sense of college visits and interviews, helping brainstorm and
evaluate college essays, and walking both student and parent through the financial aid and scholarship
process. Many students enjoy sitting side-by-side with Susan, relieving parents from needing to be “hands on” often limiting family stress during this important and challenging period.
READY WHEN YOU ARE
Readiness to begin the college search is unique and personal. High schools typically begin college
programming in grade eleven, but if questions or concerns arise earlier, any time is appropriate. Through
years of experience Susan provides a calm and compassionate voice, a bridge for family conversation and the support needed for both parents and students to move on to the next life stage.
