What our parents say...
Here Is What Parents Have To Say:
Amazing knowledge for our son
Susan Isler has been a huge and important part of our son’s college search. She is knowledgeable, thoughtful, honest, and calm in the face of the intense college process. But most of all – she got to know our son. She is all about knowing the student and helping navigate the process to find the right fit.

ButtonFar exceeded my expectations
Mrs. Isler far exceeded my expectations in providing support during our son's college search and application process. Her true gift is in pushing her students to write their own quality essays, guiding them to dig deep and show their true selves on paper. This is not an easy process and entails many more drafts than I would have expected, but the results are high quality and genuine. Susan's comments and questions to our son on his writing were insightful, probing, and encouraging. She is able to draw out real and fully formed thoughts and connections between experiences and lessons learned resulting in exceptional essays. While the real work is accomplished through a partnership between Susan and the student, I also found her to be an enormous resource to the parents as well. I appreciated her straight talk and was impressed that she was right on with practically everything she told us from beginning to end (even when they were things I did not want to hear). She gets the best out of her students and is a supportive guiding hand for the whole family.

ButtonAccepted into his first choice...
Our son was accepted into his first choice, highly selective university, and working with Susan was an integral component in his choosing the school and knowing how to create an outstanding application. The college search and application process can be overwhelming, but it never seemed so for us because we had Susan as a resource. We began working with her at the start of my son's sophomore year. She was an invaluable guide through creating a college list, navigating visits and interviews, and offering feedback on application components and essays. An English teacher, I initially thought we may not need Susan's consulting for the essays, but she was invaluable with her focused insights to all of the prompts and steady guidance in the revision process, and it was a relief to have outside expert eyes on all of the writing required for admissions. We always felt confident that we were in great hands with Susan Isler, and our family believes she is worth her weight in gold. We could not recommend her more highly.

ButtonExpertise & Guidance
Susan Isler’s expertise and guidance though the college search, visit, application and analysis was invaluable to my daughter, my husband and me. Through research, very strategic listening and direct input Susan helped our daughter explore her wants and helped her discover her true needs. We ended up in a totally different place than where we started. Susan’s process identified so many schools we never would have found on our own and helped my daughter feel very comfortable and confident in her choices. My daughter was accepted to her firstchoice school early decision. The piece of mind we all have about our daughter’s decision is priceless! Cannot recommend Susan strongly enough!

ButtonAll of the tools we needed
Susan provided all of the tools we needed to educate ourselves on the process and began to work with our daughter early in her high school years. Susan worked carefully with our daughter to identify educational goals as well as cultural and campus priorities so that she could refine her own thinking about schools that were likely to be a good match in the long run. She set clear schedules which allowed our daughter to understand how to prepare to meet important deadlines for submission of materials but provided support throughout the period. Susan’s ability to demystify the process allowed us (as parents) to remain supportive cheerleaders rather than nagging nuisances and in the end, our goals were all met respectively!

ButtonA parent says...
Susan’s widely recognised competence in all phases of higher education counseling has stood the test of time with diverse student applications, colleges public and private nationwide, aspirational parents from all backgrounds and the appraisals of peers. Not only does she enjoy the professional respect and ease of access to admission offices but also Susan has the well established skill of identifying the best college fit for each individual. In role, she is a guide, motivator and sounding board all rolled into one. Word of mouth is the only enduring measure of success in the college counseling profession and Susan’s universal stature of excellence is testimony to her career of making it happen in a first class manner for all the constituencies in the complex college placement equation.

Tremendous HELP!

Here Is What Students Have To Say:
Led me through the chaos
Ms. Isler was a thoughtful, committed source of knowledge and guidance throughout my college search and decision process. Her personal involvement with my course selection in conjunction with extensive conversations about my academic, extracurricular, and personal passions allowed her to lead me through the often chaotic period with confidence and direction. Together, we created a list of potential fits that ranged from small liberal arts colleges to niche programs within larger institutions to research universities, many of which I would have never initially thought of or considered without her wealth of information and experience. I ended up finding a snug fit at Stanford University where I thrived and grew for four years, and sincerely credit Ms. Isler’s involvement during my high school years to discovering such a wonderful place for me!

ButtonConsistent and reliable source
"Throughout my college application journey, Ms. Isler always made sure I stayed on track to achieve my goals. At times, it was difficult to find clarity in the process and remain motivated, but Ms. Isler helped me to establish a concrete timeline, stay informed on the programs, and prioritize my tasks based on time constraints and personal importance. Having her as a consistent and reliable outside source of guidance on an oftentimes complicated undertaking--especially with many varying essay requirements--reflected greatly on both my applications and my own confidence in how I was presenting myself as a student and person.

You have been the most immense help
I have applied to all of my colleges and I wanted to say thank you. You have been the most immense help in this process and there is no way that I could have done this alone. I walked into this process knowing so little. Without you, I would have never found Muhlenberg, Beloit, and so many other schools that I love. Thank you for everything.
Much love,

ButtonA GREAT COUNSELOR AND MENTOR
From beginning to end, Mrs. Isler helped me go through the college search and application process as thoroughly as possible. Without her help in judging fit, reading essays, or scanning my application, it would not have been possible for me to be admitted to one of my reach colleges. Mrs. Isler has not only been a great counselor and mentor, but also a friend who is able to bring out my best qualities and help me find what I truly wanted in life as I worked through the college application process. I would be hard-pressed to find anyone else more willing to make sure her students are happy wherever they end up for college, and for that, I thank her tremendously.

ButtonNo detail overlooked
Mrs. Isler was an important driving force throughout my college process. After our first meeting, she promptly outlined a schedule with, at the minimum, weekly meetings which kept me on track during the school year and summer. Her knowledge of specific schools’ deadlines and requirements helped me make my final list of colleges, and made me feel confident that no detail was overlooked. During the essay writing process, her questions to me about my writing made me reveal more about myself and better represent myself to my prospective audience. I am grateful for Mrs. Isler’s support throughout this process.
